I'd say he should go down when Harden comes back, but Etherton isn't exactly lighting it up.

Send them both down
and put Duchscherer and Yabu in the rotation.
A Beane in the hand is worth $60M in payroll

by jeepers on May 30, 2005 7:46 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I've argued for Duke in the rotation since ST
But he's now a key setup man, not just a long guy. When Calero's back and healthy, maybe.

by boilerdan on May 30, 2005 7:49 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I agree
But at least with Etherton right now you have a chance at an okay outing. Blanton right now, until he finds his slider, is completely useless. He needs to go, do some work away from the pressure and come back fresh.

by textonly on May 30, 2005 7:46 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Perhaps
At least Yabu should be in the rotation over Blanton.  That's a no-brainer at this point.

by OakLaNdAs4LiFe32 on May 30, 2005 7:55 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What really hurts our offense
is Jason Kendall's defense. When he dosn't throw out runners. A  single automatically turns into a double then there is a man on 2nd with no outs and its much easier to get him in. It makes it harder on the pitcher becuase he can't try for the DP. When there is a RISP constantly it puts so much pressure on the pitching staff especially our young one, when you get a RISP when you give up a walk

by SanTropez on May 30, 2005 7:56 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah that pisses me off
kendall cannot play defense....or offense..dammit it proves it too cuz yesterday melhuse threw out a runner

question. . .
in the last 8 games, A's hitters seem to hit disproportionate # of ground balls (as oppose to flyballs) . . . is the hitting coach doing something to cause this? Anyone see a consistent hitch in all the hitters? probably just my imagination ..  .

When we traded for Kendall
we expected a guy that would follow his career numbers. And who we gave up for him Rhodes, was a disaster and Redman was jsut average but then they play well and Kendall comes and hits .239 and throws about handful of runners on 48 tries. Kendall was one of the premier catchers in the NL. Who thought that trade would end up the way it has the first half of the season?
