Photos From April 30th - A's VS. Seattle, 6-5
I went home for the weekend and I got the chance to go to the Friday and Saturday games. I took some photos using an awesome [and borrowed] camera, so I thought I'd share some of them here!
56K warning - there are 12 photos here and each one is around 70K.
These pictures appear in the order that they were taken in. I apologize for the weird/off colors. Some of the photos were taken in gorgeous sunlight, but it got cloudy pretty early in the game. I did my best to color correct, but I really could only eyeball things and hope that it all looks okay.

When I got inside the ballpark, most of the A's players were gone already and the Mariners were having their batting practice. Barry Zito, however, was doing an interview with some guy. Unfortunately I have no idea what the interview was about.

After the interview was over, Barry Zito went to talk to a few fans and stopped to sign some autographs since he is an awesome guy.

Joe Blanton warms up before the game by throwing pitches on the bullpen mound.

I swear Huston Street thinks I'm stalking him. I had a camera on him pretty much all of Friday. I was trying to take photos of the whole bullpen, but he was the only person really up and walking around. In any case, he once again saw me holding a camera and then he abruptly turned around and hid back in the dugout.

After Blanton gives up a home run, Justin Duchscherer starts warming up in the bullpen.

Another picture of our dear Duke. From what I heard said by the people around me, that kid is supposed to protect whoever is on the mound from freak fly balls and such.

Huston Street delivers a quick cup of water to Justin Duchscherer right before The Duke is sent out to relieve Joe Blanton.

After Eric Byrnes made an impossible diving catch to end the fifth inning, Marco Scutaro congratulates him on a job well done. Eric Chavez looks on in admiration in the background.

Sent to relive Justin Duchscherer in the seventh inning, Huston Street allows Jeremy Reed to steal second base on his very first pitch to Bret Boone. Bret Boone eventually walked on 7 pitches, and Huston Street was quickly replaced by Ricardo Rincon.

However, I was able to get this picture of Huston Street's lovely pitching expression and pose before he was pulled oh-so-quickly.

Yep, not even a second chance for this poor guy. As catcher Jason Kendall speaks with relief pitcher Huston Street, manager Ken Macha quickly approaches the mound to signal a pitching change.

With Kiko Calero pitching in the 8th inning, a ball hit by Wilson Valdez gets thrown to third baseman Eric Chavez for a force out of Randy Winn. It looks like a close call, doesn't it? Eric Chavez doesn't even have the ball yet, and Winn looks so close to the base.

Anyway so the A's win, yada yada, after congratulating each other on the field, all of the players walk back to the dugout. Danny Haren, who pitched Friday's game, got a chance to relax during this one and hung out looking cool with his shades. In other news, Eric Chavez looks simply smashing with his cap on backwards.
I have photos from Friday too, but they're pretty much all of Huston Street with a few of Justin Duchscherer and Danny Haren and one of Octavio Dotel.

Nice Job
Looks like you may have been in 128 from the angle of those shots in the bullpen. Maybe that's why you didn't see me.
Just checked... I was in 129!
A couple of these photos were taken in or by the aisle between 130 and 129, I was maybe about 6-8 rows up? Then during the 6th inning, I moved to section 120 because I really wanted the chance to get some close-ups. Let's just say that I was so worried I'd get kicked out of the section that I couldn't really enjoy the game, but honestly there were ALOT of empty seats and a bunch of other people from other sections 'snuck' down as well, and the security didn't really care. Probably because it was getting late, the clouds were coming out, the temperature dropped about 20 degrees and people were leaving, but oh well.
Anyway, watching the bullpen warm up is sometimes more interesting than watching the game itself :) I really should have seen you around though, I need to pay more attention!
As long as you're taking pictures like this
great photos Melody!
Camera
I borrowed the camera from my high school yearbook staff, even though I graduated last year :) If I had a camera this nice, I'd go to every game just to take photos!
Good stuff
My favorite is the one of Chavez and Winn.
That is an awesome camera
This thread got my recommendation!!!
WOW
More Huston pictures would be just fine with me.
The only picture I have of him that is decent is one with me in it too, and I don't really want to stare at myself all day!!!
Love the Chavy/Winn pic! That was great!

Where's the flying Byrnsie?
check out
It should come up with two pictures that capture Eric perfectly ... the superman catch off Winn in Oakland, and the superklutz miss off Dobbs in Seattle.
