More comments about our oh so wonderful fan base....

I hate to see this after all the things are said about our fans....especially since Casey is a great guy with no axe to grind on Oakland.

Cincinnati's Sean Casey said the only time he ever felt unsafe at a park was last year in Oakland, when he was serving as the Reds' DH and made several forays past a gauntlet of fans on his way to and from the clubhouse. "They were some of most hostile fans I've seen," Casey said. "I had to go about 30 feet to get past them and I had hands in my face and people were yelling some pretty rude stuff. It's almost like you're a WWF Wrestler. I didn't enjoy the whole environment, to be honest with you."

He's Kidding Right?
Worse than Boston, New York, Chicago, Detroit?

Please. This guy sounds like a little girl afraid of strangers on the street.

Hey Casey, grow up.

No he's right
A three-quarters empty stadium like ours usually is is more ominous than a packed house full of "hostile" fans.  A sell-out crowd always has its share of families and sober people.  But when you get those crowds of 10,000, the percentage of drunks, profanity and nastiness rises.

Good We should do everything in our power
Short of touching a player.... to make them as uncomfortable as possible.

Though he did hit a HR that game.

Ha
I for one love being called hostile. I am. I'm hostile about anyone who wants to come in and take something from a team I have loved for almost twenty years.

There's hostile and there's...
... disrespectful. I remember games where A's fans threw trash onto the field. Then the Giambi beer incident. I just think throwing anything past an opposing HR ball onto the field is trashy and disrespectful to the game.

*disclaimer*
Not aimed at anyone here or anything. But it's fans like that that make Oakland go from "passionate" to "hostile"

Wait a sec..
Is this refering to the series we killed them like 134-4? Uhm, I wonder if he was just pissed about getting his arses handed to them? Maybe a little sensitive there Mayor boy.

Mixed minds about this.
When I don't have my kid with me, I like to let loose a bit. Nothing profane, but hopefully something that gets a chuckle from the other diehards around me. When you here stuff like:

"Hit it to the fat kid in left!" (A's at bat, Manny Ramirez in the field)

"Would a dinosaur have goten to that one?" (Carl Everett in the field)

"Hey ump, bend over and use your good eye!" (any number of situations)...

Well, there's hostile and boring, and then there's hostile and original. Oakland fans are frequently the latter.

"Yucky Head Bad Guy!" - my 5-year-old daughter to Manny Ramirez. She got ice cream immediately afterward.
