Down Goes Durazo, Up comes D-Jack

This just in.  Durazo just went on the DL, and look who gets the call up.  As many in AN are probably thinking, FINALLY!

Here's the press release:

A's Place Erubiel Durazo On Disabled List
Dan Johnson Recalled From Sacramento

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's today placed designated hitter Erubiel Durazo on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 25 with tendinitis in his left elbow.  To take his spot on the roster, the A's have recalled first baseman Dan Johnson from Triple-A Sacramento.

Johnson was batting .324 with eight home runs and 41 RBI in 47 games with Sacramento.  He was leading the Pacific Coast League in RBI and ranked third in doubles (17).  The 25-year old left-handed hitter got off to a slow start with the River Cats, hitting just .224 in April, but he was batting .412 with 24 RBI in 24 games in May.  Johnson will be making his Major League debut although he was called up by Oakland last year on September 18 without appearing in a game.

Durazo was batting .237 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 41 games with the A's this year.  He was hitting just .200 with two RBI over his last 14 games.  This is Durazo's seventh career stint on the disabled list but it is his first since joining the A's in 2003.  He becomes the seventh A's player to go on the DL this year and is one of six players currently on the DL.
