Even thought the A's won tonight, I had a frustrating time listening. Partly because it was long and sloppy (especially towards the end, what with Cruz continuing his problems), but it was mainly frustrating because the mlb.com audio feed kept cutting out and I would lose crucial at-bats. that's the main reason I couldn't participate in the play by play with y'all.
However, I did keep track of what everyone did tonight. So here's just a brief recap:
Haren was a little wild. Walked 5, but still was effective (struck out 7 only gave up 2-3 hits; I'm not sure because of the audio problems). the Duke was very effective in relief. Dotel gave us heart palpitations but did the job.
Most of the A's hit tonight. Durazo had a multihit night, including two doubles, rbi and run scored. Hudgens said in the pregame show that Durazo was practicing keeping the bat head from dropping, and even his outs yesterday were getting better.
Ellis had several hits. Scutaro walked 3 times in one game (how many walks did he have all last year?) Even his outs were well hit.
Swish K'd three times but got a ringing double. The only A who sucked badly at the play tonight was Byrnesy. Maybe Macha should pitch batting practice to him too, as he did for Chavvy and Durazo. Chavvy K'd a few times but also hit a monster tape measure homer.
the Rangers' pitching was quite unimpressive, even though they did manage a good number of strikeouts. their hitting didn't really come together much either. Hidalgo seems especially lost at the plate (though he's a good defensive right fielder).
I'm glad our guys are hitting and all. But I must confess I didn't enjoy this game as much as the ones during the weekend. I really hope the audio feed improves.
