Fosse Really Said It

Look, I love the A's radio broadcast just as much (if not more) than the next guy. I can't remember the last game I watched that didn't have the TV sound turned down and the radio on. King is a legend and Korach has become a solid and entertaining announcer, but Fosse? Bless him for the great years behind the plate and I love how he digs into the Giants. But every now and again Fosse dons the "Homer" role. Tonight in Arlington, Foss went way beyond the usual "the wind held that up and cost a home run." Tonight he uttered words that I don't think have ever been mentioned before with respect to a particular Oakland Athletic. Fosse referred to a run scoring play involving Durazo crossing the plate and actually uttered the words.."He can motor." I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. Admittedly, Foss prefaced the statement with "Once he gets going", but still...I'm of the school that there is something good to say about everybody. And Durazo is no exception, slow start or not. But "He can Motor??????"

Go A's!!

Ruby is fast!!!
Watch him when he gets moving. Great from first to third. FAt does not mean slow.

Sapp ran a 4.5 40 at one point.

I love Fosse
I want my announcers to be homers, to counter the occasional Angels' or White Sox broadcast of an A's game I have to endure...

Nice one, Satchmo22
I wish I had gas with vrrrroooom. All I have is gas with cramps. (Sadly, Pepcid AC refuses to use that as their motto, despite my repeated letters to their P.R. department).

Durazo
I've seen him steal a few bases in person. The first time it scared me, but he's not as slow as he looks.

Motor sound about right
You never here anyone talk about some speed demon motoring.  That adjective seems to usually describe when a big guy gets moving pretty quick for a big guy.  I would  say given the description of Durazo being faster than he looks, motor is exactly the right description.  Byrnes doesn't motor he dashes.   Durazo motors kind of like a semi or a tank.

A true sign of a homer
Is saying us or we. The A's announcers don't say that.

You're so wrong....
....WannaBe -

If you'd been paying attention you'd know that Ruby is fast from 2nd to 3rd (starting from first) or 1st to 2nd on a double. He spins his wheels getting started but he's a fast rambling wreck on the second base.

Don't be telling me anything bad about Fosse as an announcer: he's a good teller of the other team while telling us the scoop about the A's. Fosse is the MAN and I love listening to him. Possibly the best color guy on the airways.

Nuff said.... I ain't listening to any dissent on this point. Fosse is more like a god than a man.

Lighten Up. . . .
Fosse says somethings tongue-in-cheek.  You can't intrepret everything as being so exact.  When Durazo gets up a head of steam, he's motoring.  Not going very fast but motoring.

Not a homer
I have seen Durazo run surprisingly fast for his bulk. Seriously.

I remember specifically a game in 03
Versus i dont know who. It's bottom of the ninth, Durazo on first. T long hit a fly ball into the gap in right center, and ruby ran so fast he actually scored. He was seriously chugging all the way around man.

Fosse provides great insight,
more so than other former ballplayer turned color commentators.

I get to see virtually every team's announcing
crew on DirecTV.  A's fans have got to understand how lucky they are to have Fosse.  He is so much better than the dreck that most teams have for analysts.  I just wish they had Papa back for play-by-play.
