Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

Open Thread: Game 12 - A's vs. Huntington Beach Angels

Kirk Saarloos with a 1-1 record and a 5.59 ERA takes on John "Slingblade" Lackey with a 1-0 record and a 6.52 ERA.

Just keep thinking, down in the zone, Kirk, down in the zone.

The A's lineup looks like this:

Kotsay
Kendall
Chavez
Durazo
Hatteberg
Byrnes
Ellis
Swisher
Scutaro

Sooner or later, the top of that lineup is going to come through.  It's only a matter of time.

The Angels Angels go with this look:

Erstad
DaVanon
Guerrero
Anderson
Finley
Cabrera
B. Molina
Izturis
Figgins

Let's take the series and head for Texas in a tie for first place in the AL West.

LET'S GO OAK-LAND!!!

Saarloos continues this trend, 1 good game, 2 bad ones, what do you do?  Do you stay with him as a fifth starter, or do you explore other options, i.e. Yabu, Duch, Meyer, etc.

If you think about it, Saarloos is on pace to win us 10, and lose us 20

Byrnes
This is somewhat unrelated to the game, but not deserving of its own diary.

I just picked up the ESPN MLB game, which has built in taunts when you are on the road for some players, such as "Hey Alomar, I can hear your knees creaking from here!"

The one for Byrnes: "Hey Byrnes, go back and touch the plate!" Ouch. Pretty painful memory.

I can't stand that worthless tub of lard.  He has ONE JOB on this team...get the lefty out.  He probably won't go 3 outs in one inning all year, yet he still can't do his ONE FREAKING JOB.

ok nice job Ricky, don't worry you can blow another lead tomorrow.  that's the advantage of only throwing to one or two batters.

OK, that name made me throw up a little bit in my mouth.  It is bad enough that they are down the 22 from me - please don't put them in my place of residence (though Artie thinks they are every SoCal City's team).
