I'm new to the Athletics Nation and wanted to introduce myself.
I'm an East Bay native who was 3 when the A's moved here, and have been a fan as long as I can remember. It was so fun during my childhood when they won the three championships in a row! I Had to follow the '89 series from Germany though, waking up in the dark hours of the morning to catch the games on Armed Forces Network. With the earthquake, and living so far from home, the whole thing was so surreal.
I heard about AN a few weeks ago when I bought the book Aces to read while I was on my way to Florida. My wife and I were able to make it to the first game of the Tampa series at Tropicana, in fact, when I got home and looked at the A's website to buy some tickets, I heard myself screaming on the replay of the clutch Duchscher/Chavez double play, since we were a few rows under the press box. Sure they lost in the 10th, but it was still great to be there, wear our Oakland gear, and support the team!
We made the game yesterday, will be there today, and hope to get to at least 20 this year.
Anyway, I've been looking at the posts everyday since getting back, and hope to post my 2 cents from tie to time. Personally, I think it will be a great season! (hey, as long as we have Baseball in Oakland, how could it not??) The pitching for the most part looks great, and I'm looking forward to when the bats wake up. I think TODAY will be the breakthrough game.
Thanks for putting this site up and Lets Go Oakland!!
