SI.com power rankings

So, this should get us all riled up, I figure.  I'm not sure if this guy used his mind at all, or if he just assumed that since Zito has sucked our entire team has sucked, but somehow we are now worse than the Pirates in the SI Power Rankings.

The guys one liners suck too.

On the bright side?
We're ahead of the Rangers and Mets, and just behind the Cubs.

At least...
...the guy has the Yanks and RedSox at 16 and 17, so we know he's messed up in the head (or judging ONLY by events from the past week).

Nontheless, NO respect for the green and gold.

not so bad
maybe the a's should be a few spots higher, but lets face it, that's about where they belong so far.

Re:
I agree.  This guy seems to be going strictly by the first week.  I mean, us being behind the Pirates is questionable, but I'd say that's about where we belong given Zito's troubles and our RISP woes thus far.

DA
What a dumbass.  Although stuff like this should give us all hope that we can one day write for a major sports news outlet...

Did I hear this right?
Taken straight from his section on the "Los Angeles Angels", who were ranked #7 on this useless list:

Los Angeles Angels
They're already 4-2 this season against the Rangers, a team many think will be their toughest foe in the AL West. And that's without perpetually injured Tim Salmon, who's hit .348 with 32 homers and 114 RBIs in 150 games against Texas.

Without Tim Salmon?!?! THat guy hasn't been a productive member of the Angels since the last Angel name change...from "California" to "Anahiem". This man should be blacklisted from AN from now on!

didn't see that
wow, that's bad.

i hope the angels are relying on tim salmon to remain competitive this year...

Disappointing
to see writing that bad associated with Sports Illustrated, a very good magazine.  Typical, nevertheless.  We never get any love from the national media.  Hell, we don't get any here.  When was the last time you heard any substantial discussion of the A's on KNBR?  I know they're the home of the Giants, but, geez, there are two MLB teams in their market.  You'd think they'd mention it once in a while.

Typical stupid A's basher
I could understand a 20th ranking, but 27th?

What a fool.

These things suck
ESPN has the A's at 24 but has the other bay area team that is missing the hand pee'er and the cream and clear, you know the ones that have that closer that blew a 4 run lead with 2 outs in the ninth and have a 4-4 record as 10th on the list. WTF.?

Only thing to conclude is the guys in charge of the Power Rankings are complete, assnine morons. (Now all due respect if this was Jayson Stark, he lost his mom this week, so I might give him a pass, but I have the feeling it wasn't him, its was some stupid intern that needs to be canned).

These things are always right, why argue
Los Angeles Dodgers - Last week: 18, This week: 3
Chicago White Sox   - Last week: 22, This week: 4
Milwaukee Brewers   - Last week: 23, This week: 5
Toronto Blue Jays   - Last week: 20, This week: 6

The reporter "knows baseball" so well that teams jump from the bottom of the list to the top. Really, fantastic work there. Do they just put the team names in a hat. Or is there actual critical thinking behind the list(s).
