Tired of hearing about the Red Sox?!

Is anyone else out there tired of everything Red Sox?  I want to hear about everyone, but it seems all ESPN and CBS can do is cover the Red Sox (or Yankees).  Well this guy over at ESPN Page 2, feels the same way.  Here is a funny article about how overexposed the Red Sox have become.  Here are 86 reasons to hate the Red Sox.

Numbers 9 and 11 bring back painful memories.

"We're starting to dislike the Red Sox"
I think most of us "started" to dislike them about 100 years ago. The New York Red Sox of Boston.

What's funny
Is even the Sports Guy (artest formally known as the Boston Sport Guy, Writer for Jimmy Kimmel and now just Bill Simmons), is sick of all the whoopla around the Sox. He has mentioned it in every article he has written about them this year. I mean, let's get real here, they actually filmed an entire day with Johnny Damon when he did Good Morning America, Regis and Kathy errr Kelly errr whoever,  and also had Queer Eye for the Idiot, and then ran the show. What a fricken joke. Dammon the author....the talk show freak...the reality show freak....there is allot of talk coming out of Boston that he will be gone by July as the Sox try to lose the "idiots" logo, but why stop there...I mean they still have Man Ram, and Kevin Milllllllar on the team....will the idiot mantage ever end? Doesn't seem like they are too keyed on the season, still living in the past, least they will never have to pay for another drink in a Boston tavern ever again.

Here's to hoping the love fest goes crashing in flames.

Great Article
except for the part at the beginning when he says better the sox than the yankees (to win the series). I see no difference between the two teams. The 2004 Sox had the highest team salary of any team to win the series. Plus, the curse was a part of baseball lore. I sure do miss it.

Cave Man
Damon.  Ugh.  Don't care where he played before, enough with Encino Man.

It's quirky and fun to see/read reports of Barry Zito's off-field singing and whatnot, with Damon it's grating in that East Coast way.

He's in a far, far better place now... for him.

And for us!

great...except
he forgot to put one of my top 3 reasons for hating the sox:  mirabelli and others spelling out "l-i-l-l-y" and standing on the top step of the dugout in game 3 of the 2003 alds...real classy, guys

L-I-L-L-Y: that's my #1 reason!
the derek lowe crotch grab was nothing compared to spelling out lilly...

does anyone know of a photo of that incident?

lilly?explain plz?
can someone explain to me about the lilly incident? i dont seem to know what ur talking about sry...

gojohn10, u bring up a good point.i think the red sox lose a bit of their mystique now that theyre not "cursed". that was a part of baseball and now its gone. also they used so much money they pretty much bought the WS.man...great minds think alike huh? and plus we got the same name , wierd...

the lilly incident
during the infamous game 3 of the 2003 alds, ted lilly was pitching a masterful game (1er in 7ip i believe)...all game long, red sox fans were chanting "lil-ly! lil-ly!"--all part of the game, if you ask me...however, about 4 red sox players (i know doug mirabelli is one, don't know about the others) stood on the top step of their dugout and had "l-i-l-l-y" spelled out across the backs of their warm-up jackets (of course, the infinite wisdom that is tim mccarver thought it was hilarious)

my take on it:  i don't care if the fans are doing it...i would do it if all the oakland fans were chanting "ped-ro!"...but the players don't need to do something classless like that.  that's something a little league team would do.

#s 72, 73, and 74...
...could have been written about any team's fan base and still have contained truth.  I see it from various posters - on a rotating basis it seems - every time I visit here, too!  Hell, even I get in on that some of that action at times.

Now, excuse me while I go flog myself.  [Not meant as a self-gratification reference]
