Diamond Mind Annual Preview
Every year, Tom Tippett of Diamond Mind does a simulation of the upcoming season - actually, a bunch of simulations. They've proven to be above average in accuracy, compared to other analysts, in previous seasons.
Link is Here.
The good news: The A's are projected to win. And surprisingly, the offense is projected to score 873, fourth in baseball behind the Yankees, Red Sox, and a hair behind the Cardinals. The not-so-good news: The A's win only slightly more often than the Angels, and the Rangers and Mariners take their share of titles too. Overall, the A's won the division 31% of the time, and a 1% wild card. So, it's very close. And the pitching staff was only average. Honestly, there's a lot more unpredictability coming into 2005 than typical for this team. But for the rest of this week, at least, there's plenty of reason to be hopeful.

I'm not sure this counts
If anyone is looking for some easy money this is a great way to make futures bets. These predictions have been scary accurate over the several years I've been reading them.
Thanks KirbyK

More Predicitons

As a whole, the staff predcits a Division flag for our guys, but there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the AL west as a whole.
Overall, Chavez ranks third for MVP behind ARod and Vlad the Terrible. Harden ranked third for Cy Young (Santana, Big Unit) - no Zito. Blanton was 3rd (!) for ROY (Jeremy Reed, Dallas McPherson), while Swish checked in at #8 and Street (!) #11.

Don't know where else to put this
Mar. 31 - According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, Oakland GM Billy Beane continues to tell people that, no matter how impressive Huston Street has been this spring, he's not ready to move Octavio Dotel - yet.
"He's just not prepared to do it now, because he's not sure which way his team's going to go," says an official of one team that has talked with the A's. "But even if they're in it on June 15, Billy's the kind of guy who might still move a Dotel if he thinks Street is ready - except, if they're in it, he'll deal him to get a major-league piece he needs."
I found it funny how the official of one team cited his date as June 15th, my birthday.

two things here:
secondly, i found it interesting to read where BB "is not sure which way his team is going to go"....what !?! does that mean BB hasn't VORPed WIN Shared (and every other GD metric tool floating out there) his team to death and PREDICTED a 85 winning ALW season?
leave it up to BB to offer some balance!

One question...
I can sure remember that a lot clear than I can remember a time when the Braves didn't. Yet, no mention of the simulator's picks effectively dethroning the NL champs.
