Spring Training: Observing Billy Beane

While attending spring training games (today and last year) I've made it a habit to observe Billy Beane during the games. He tends to sit in the front row seats behind home plate. Reminiscent of descriptions from Moneyball, Billy doesn't seem to actively watch the game. With his back to the game, I've seen him spend most of his time speaking with scouts, talking on his cell phone, chewing tobacco, and occasionally signing something for a fan, as if the game was secondary and just in the background.  I know it's just spring training, but it seems to validate some of Lewis' points from Moneyball. Has anyone else noticed these tendencies? Nevertheless, I recommend it, watching our idolized GM at the games is entertaining.

Beane
He doesn't need to watch the games.  His computers are watching for him.

I think
We should put a microchip on BB and see where he goes.

Beane watch?
He's got us watching. It's much easier to just read what is said here and decipher it. :)

Last year ST
I saw him in the luxury box chillin in bare feet chatting with Peter Gammons.  They seemed to be having a great time up there

Yah
Last year his feet were pressed against the glass and a dog was in there with him. He was waving to some folks.

our GM is great. i can't imagine a lot of other GMs just kicking back at the spring training games with their bare feet pressed up against glass. haha.

We've got the best GM in the game. He's also the coolest.

season tickets
they are pretty good this year, but the best is easily the one with the maze that instructs you to 'help billy find his cell phone'.

who caught the game today?
I didn't want to make a diary for this, but, even though the A's lost, wasn't it great to hear real baseball in the air? (on the web)

Baseball....
I was so desperate for baseball, I almost ditched 7th period to listen to the Giants game.... but I didn't. I can't wait for the first KFRC bradcast with Bill King and Ken Korach. It's gonna be juuuust like baseball season- except it's spring training.
