Problems with the mound

Yes, with the mound, not on the mound... From an article up at the A's official website:

The mound itself was a bit of an issue Monday. Yabu, who was constantly working from behind in the count, said it was too high. Etherton, who threw more strikes than Yabu but was hit a bit harder, agreed.

"It was very high, and it didn't have a whole lot of slope to it," Etherton said. "It's a big adjustment, but everyone else has to throw off it, too."

That could explain their pretty crappy outings on Monday.
