How does something like this even see the light of day, much less get past an editor? To think that a columinst would think that the steroid revelations created a cloud over all of Oakland's accomplishments in 1989 is sour grapes at best and outright inane at worst.
Last I checked, Rickey Henderson was the reason the A's beat the Jays in '89 and the pitchers stepped up their game, too. Canseco and Mac played parts, but even Jose's 5th deck HR couldn't compete with how Rickey got into Ernie Whitt's psyche and how Parker pissed off Kelly Gruber.
Anyone know what the exchange rate on yellow journalism is?
