SD A's Fans

For those of us in San Diego, we will be able to watch the A's play the Padres on Sunday March 13 at 12pm.

The game will be broadcast on chanel 4...in HD!

Since I need more characters, Im wondering if A's fans down here watch the games anywhere special.  I get the baseball package, but Im always down to rip some beers and watch the game somewhere else.

Oggi's
Oggi's is a good place for game watching, as they have pizza, good wings, very good beer, and a few dozen TVs.

Their Encinitas location is my personal favorite, the one with the best sports bar atmosphere. They're also in Mission Valley, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Escondido, and a few other places in San Diego County.

I'll be at that game
Making a roadie from Phoenix to check it out. When you are down there, you have to travel around.

San Diego, As Well...
I've never seen an official "hangout" for A's fans here in San Diego, but, dammit, we should start one!

And I, for one, now offically have plans for Sunday, March 13!  Just don't tell my wife...

Oceanside Boy, Here
Where do I watch A's games in San Diego? Pretty much my living room, hoping and praying for a game to get an ESPN or FOX slot. (Brrrr. Fox. You KNOW you're a baseball fan when you sit through a Saturday game on Fox with the sound on.)

Since they don't often make it to San Diego, if I wanna see the A's live I have to go to Anaheim, home of the worst, most nakedly bandwagon-jumping fans in baseball. Awful, awful awful. I've seen people bring their work to Angels games. Saw a guy bring a board game once. Cripes!

Plus, if you need any more convincing about the sheer awfulness of the experience, I need only utter two words: Rally Monkey. 'Nuff said.

I'll be planted squarely in front of my TV on the 13th, though. Thanks for the heads-up!

You just described SBC Park to a T.  It gives me chills.

how about...
watching FOX, but listen to bill and ken on the webcast radio?  I live in Oakland, so I listen to KFRC when the game is on FOX.  I started doing this (I'm sure I'm not unique) when I was a kid, and the Pirates (my team) would play the Mets or Phillies (who broadcast to my region).  I would listen to Bob Prince and Nellie King (a real royal duo!) do the play by play out of KDKA Pittsburgh.

I have to say, though, that I also think it's interesting to listen to the announcers of the other team, or even "neutral" announcers like those on FOX.  It's informing to hear a different perspective, whether "wrong" or "right".  I wince and curse, but I'm actually entertained by the mispronunciations, misinterpretations, and general misinformation that I perceive from their offerings.

Wait a Second
I also live in Oceanside and when the A's are on the fox game of the week, we ALWAYS end up with a Dodger game!

Sad...
... but true. JD is exactly right, most of the time there's an A's game on Fox Saturday we end up with the Dodgers playing some team we don't give a damn about (meaning it's a game featuring TWO teams we don't give a damn about).

Blast you, National League market!

Ergh...
... Sorry. Meant to type JB and hit the "d" instead. My sincerest apologies. I blame the back injury and the painkillers.

I've been in San Diego for 7 years now...
but I've yet to find a place to watch A's games other than my couch.  Damn the luck, on March 13 I'll be up i the Bay too.  I watched the final A's - Angels series last year at Moondoggies in PB.  I think we should all recommend a place to watch the games.  Trophy's in Mission Valley wold probably work for me.  We need a place with the package.

Mediocre food.  Way overpriced.
