Some of the things he sais make me so excited as a fan. He put an impression on me right away last year, and quickly became a favorite of mine. Here are some exerpts:
"I've got to do a lot better,'' Crosby said before working out at the A's Papago Park complex. "There's a lot of room for improvement. ... My average needs to go up, my RBIs need to go up, my strikeouts need to go down, my defense could be better. I could name everything. I'm not too content about anything.''
"This offseason, he worked on his hitting, especially on covering the outside of the plate. Watching videos of his at-bats, he noticed that during a good stretch he had in interleague play, he was getting his front foot down early, so he is trying to get back to that."
"To me, the ultimate goal for Bobby would be to do that, (hit in an RBI slot in in he middle of the order)'' Macha said, "but I don't want to put undo pressure on him, or have him putting it on himself.''
The thought fires up Crosby, though.
"I'd like to (hit there), to be honest,'' he said. "Wherever I hit, I'll be the last guy to complain, but I've got to drive in runs. If I don't do that, I don't deserve to hit higher.''
(Funny) Crosby enjoyed a busy winter as a result of his high-profile award. Most memorable, he said, was a 20-minute speech he gave at his former school, Long Beach State -- something on which he spent a great deal of time, and practiced while he was in the car, "with my (cell phone) earpiece in so people didn't think I was talking to myself.''
There is more good stuff to read in the article. Hope you enjoy.
