Canseco will sign his book at Costco

Just got back from my neighborhood Costco (in Carlsbad, in San Diego County).

Big sign at the front entrance to the store -- says that Jose Canseco will be at the Carlsbad Costco store (Thursday, March 10th at 6 PM if you must know) to meet Costco customers and personally autograph copies of "Juiced".

For those of us who have been A's fans since way way back, this episode feels more and more surreal every day.

I forget which one
but he's signing at a Costco up here too. He's also signing at a bookstore right around the corner from my work in SF.
Relax alright don't try to strike everyone out. Strikeouts are boring besides that they're fascist. Throw some ground balls it's more democratic.

That is bizarre
I do not think less of the guy for writing his book.  He was not too high in my estimation before, but as a consumer of baseball, I would rather know than not.  Still...can he posssibly think people are going to respect him for this manuever?  Can Jose be so divorced form reality that he thinks that people will thank him for his book?  wow.

If what he says turns out being true
If McGwire and the others do turn out to have used roids, then yes, we will all thank him for his book. That's a big if, though.

If anyone learns where/when it is in the bay area
Post it - people should go there and heckle the shit out of him.

Damn....
Those are school nights!!! Er... at least one school night and one school day and I can't afford to ditch and take BART until the A's games start. I wanted to go to see him out of curiosity of how he's going to act at the signing. I swear, if I could go I would ask him about the $40K World Series ring. What is he thinking?

fun as heckling may be
with Jose I gotta wonder if it's even necessary. The man is like a walking 3 ring circus. Just bring a video camera and tape him doing something stupid (that should take all of 3 minutes) and send it to the local news.

If Jose's gonna be making news again at least we get some of his old entertainment value.

heckling canseco
i may have bought the book, but i agree canseco is scum because he was a horrible teammate and because his comments regarding steroids will only lead to more kids using them.

however, if anyone is going to heckle canseco, remember three things:

  1. he often has trouble with the law
  2. he's a big guy
  3. "roid rage"

it would be great to get punched by him
Can you say "big cash settlement?" :)

HAHAHA
maybe not, let's remember that he supposedly wrote this book in response to some hefty back taxes he owes, but i would hate to start rumors about jose.

i work not far from stacy's and could go down there @ lunch, but i do not own his book, nor will i.  but i did recently purchase a '91 giveaway A's coloring book at a flea market for $.25.  when jose's book dropped, i saw fit to drawing a large needle in his rear.  perhaps i can get him to sign that.
