A few days ago, a fellow AN member lamented the fact that baseball nicknames have become boring.  Simply add an "ie" or "y" to the last name and voila, there is the nickname.  Huddy, Chavie, Hattie, Byrnsie..........Crappy.

This is a travesty.  What happened to the days of "The Sultan of Swat"?  "The Scooter"?  "The Say Hey Kid"?  "The Mad Hungarian," for crying out loud?

Fellow ANers, this is a call to arms.  Let's put our heads together, use our collective 48 brain cells, and give our players the nicknames they richly deserve.
