Does Miggy hate Ramon H.?
I don't understand why Tejeda is ripping the Orioles right now. It's not like they didn't spend any money--himself, Lopze (2003), Sosa and Palmerio (2004). Just because they didn't spend 100 million last week? That's no reason. With Hernandez and their young pitching, the O's are certainly better now than two years ago, when Miggy first signed.
This has led some people to speculate that there are problems between him and Hernandez. Any ANer know about this, which would be news to me?

I haven't heard of any.
Does anyone know the precise timing of when Miggy's comments were released compared to the Ramon signing?
I mean, I'm inclined to believe there's no connection between the two things at all -- though I'm actually a bit intrigued by the theory that's been tossed that the trigger was really pulled on the Ramon deal to try and appease Miggy.
I think
I think...
They lost their closer, have young starting pitching (including a guy who can't break 75 on the radar gun), and nothing noteworthy in the pen (Hawkins?????). Seriously I mean, talk about spending 28MM on something that should not be on the top of the list right now...
It's like having a family of 6, and buying a Porsche.
Lopez is still
Lopez will just become the backup catcher and primary 1b/DH in the 130 or so games he's not catching. It's not redundent. If they have real reason to believe that the reduced workload will allow Lopez to bounce back to his 2004, 1997-99 performance level (assuming 2003 was a fluke) this becomes a pretty darned good offensive move.
Hawkins is a heck of a lot better than folks give him credit for. He just got unfair levels of bad press when he was struggling. Even the idea that he doesn't have the cajones to close lacks much real evidence.
Devo..
Ramon is a defensive upgrade? Seriously? Any stats that show that? I watched a few Pads games over the last two years, and he is not a defensive upgrade over Sal Fasano. Granted he may put the signals down clearer, his rep for game calling may be misleading as it appears that (at SD) the bench was calling most of the games.
My point about Hawkins, was not meant to bash him, but to point out he is about the only name out there. Last checked, they lost Ryan and Kline and have...Hawkins, and AAAA'ers.
he realizes that those idiots need pitching

Is Miggy regretful?

Seriously--
Huh??
I don't understand why we would pursue Lopez-- Kendall is not particularly dumpable. We've made that bed. At 35, Lopez is going to be overvalued compared to his likely performance over the next few years. Let the Angels pay to get him.
I was referring to DH,
The one thing that would concern me is he had such a bizarre power surge and then returned to prior levels, and while I personally don't choose to speculate or suspect on steroid use I can't help but wonder in his case. His age wouldn't deter me, because the alternative (Thomas) is older and recently more injured.
I don't know how easy it is
All in the span of 4 hours.
I think the outburst in coincidental to the Ramon signing.
