Albert Pujols was named NL MVP today - another feather in the collective cap of the BBWA, edging Andruw Jones, giving them a black eye to match.
Despite leading the league in Homers, Jones only scraped out a 12th place finish on the NL OPS list. Weighed down by his batting average and his subpar k:bb, Jones was nowhere near the player that Lee or Jason Bay were. His defense while still solid is nowhere near what it once was and his days of contributing on the basepath are long gone.
All told, despite my complaints, the BBWA got it right more often than not this year ... I've mostly been upset because their mistakes were so egregious. Those Cy Young votes, come on, you've got to be kidding me ...
