Baseball America Vs. Baseball Prospectus

I finally have decided to join one of these two sites (unless someone knows a better on)e, and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on certain sites?

It seems pretty hard to distinguish between the two without being able to at least preview subscriber-only articles. What I do know is Baseball America is $60 a year, where as Baseball Prospectus is $40 a year, and am curious as to what makes BA worth the extra $20?

The two are totally different
Baseball America is solely about prospects. Which means they're all about the minor leagues and amateur players. They have virtually zero major league coverage, except for rookie of the year predictions and such.

As for Baseball Prospectus, it's focus is mainly the Major Leagues, with a heavy emphasis on statistical analysis.

It all depends on what you're interested in. I check out BA alot more since I'm more interested in A's prospects than I am about stats.

Agree with the TribeDude
It's not really about one being better than  the other, it's more about the two focusing on totally different subjects.  Both are the gold standard in their fields.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I think BA offers more free content to its non-subscribers than BPro does.

Concur
BA offers lots of free info without being a subscriber.  For $60, I assume you are referring to online subscription only.  I have subscribed to it for 20 years, but it looks like BA has overpriced itself out of my market.  I have the money, but $85 a year is ridiculous.  I like stats on the minors and it used to be that I had to pay to get it.  Also could get almanac each year for free with subscription.

So I feel either is probably overpriced for what you get.  Good luck in making a choice.

Referring to the online price...
I suppose I should have made that clear, the $60 cost at BA is for the online subscription only.

I would go with BP
You can get some comparable content to BA from John Sickels for free.

Sickels
The thing I don't like about John Sickels' coverage is that it's mostly done at a distance without the "insider" access that BA has. Sure Sickels' prospect ratings are as good as BA's, but BA has more info on what the organizations' plans for a given prospect are, what coaches are saying, interviews with prospects, etc. While Sickels is about little more than evaluating prospects.

I agree
If someone is a fanatic about their minor league baseball, BA is the place to go. However, Sickels does a lot of traditional scouting as well, he just doesn't post formal interviews and such.

BP is phenomenal.
And it covers so many different areas....From fantasy to minor leagues to stat breakdowns for injuries, etc.....

I would most definitely pay for that before BA.
