Athletics owner Lewis Wolff is pleased his team rehired manager Ken Macha last week and restored some order in Oakland. After parting ways with their third-year manager Oct. 5 because the sides couldn't reach agreement on a new contract, the Athletics signed Macha to a three-year contract Friday that keeps him with the club through 2008.

with a two-out single in the eighth inning to send the Chicago White Sox on their way to a first World Series berth since 1959, with a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
Ahhh. It was very satisfying to have the supposedly brilliantly managed, scrappy and gutsy Angels make multiple un-suave non-hustle plays to blow the series. Yes some calls went against them, but they sure helped make those calls possible through their lack of discipline.
