TWINS!!! (a non-baseball diary - sorry!)
no, not the baseball team, but what my wife and I found out we're expecting in May! This will be our first and second kids and we're totally excited. I love the idea of having twins, it'll be an adventure for sure. The ultrasound technician says, "Well, there are definately two in there, let's see if there are any more." The world stopped for a good 1 minute as I regained my breath to hear, "well, it's twins!"
So, mark down 2 more A's fans to come! I'm going to have to train them from Cincinnati, but they'll be growing up in green and gold!
So, I was wondering, are there any twins out there or anyone who has twins that would like to weigh in with advice for a young couple? Also, should I become a little more of a Twins fan (a suggestion by someone in class)? Or, have there ever been twins to make it to the major leagues? Or, what's a good twins joke you've heard? Let's talk twins, but not the baseball team!

woo hoo!
When the due date gets closer, get a friend to volunteer to set up a meal rotation, where a few friends chip in and bring you a big meal a day after the birth (and leave immediately). Also, if possible, take a week or two (even better) to be with your kids without family and friends, just so you get to know them a little bit; then get as much help as possible.
Congratulations again!

Oh wow, congratulations!
As for twin baseball players, Baseball Almanac has a list of the sets of twins who have played the game. Including our own Jose and Ozzie Canseco.
Hopefully, the A's will have another set of twins soon on the team soon by drafting the other Street brothers!

Cory Lidle is a twin
I'm an identical twin, and I'd be happy to give you advice (don't dress them alike; don't give them rhyming names; they'll communicate in ways you'll never understand; autonomy will always be an issue; etc.).
congratulations.

no worries about both of those
My brother-in-law is a twin and absolutely loves it, I think it'll be so fun to have them grow up together!
Thanks, gigglingone!

If you are lucky, they will have birthmarks which will make it easier. But otherwise, see what you can do to keep track of them until they start differentiating themselves...

As someone who is just two weeks into fatherhood..
One other, possibly more valuable, piece of advice; work out a way to sleep in shifts. My wife goes to bed about 9pm and leaves me to feed/change the kid through the night, and after a 3AM feeding I put the kid to bed and go to sleep myself, leaving the missus to rise at 6am for the next feeding while I sleep until about 10am.
This is the ONLY way we can get a decent 6 or 7 hours sleep each in a row, and life got a lot better for both of us once we figured it out. Up to that point... well, it wasn't healthy.
Oh, one other piece of advice - let the kids feed until they're in a milk coma. That way they'll sleep for three or four hours straight and leave you some time to yourself. Most parents stop feeding once they figure the kid is full, but if you keep going a little further, they'll actually fall asleep in your arms and stay that way. Blissful. And it's perfectly healthy for them, at least in the early stages.
Oh, and move away from Cincinnati. As someone who lived in Covington for a year, I feel your pain.

milk coma... brilliant!
Covington, I have to say, is not where we're going. I'd move out pretty quickly from there, too! I can feel your pain!
