A's Sked Next Season

Let's escape the Ken Macha hoopla and look into next year's schedule:

The A's open the season here in Oakland. Versus the Yankees. Not a bad draw.

They close the season w/ a 4-game set vs the Angels in Anaheim.

During the interleague, they play the NL West this year.

They're on the road for stretches of 7 games in April, May and Sept, 9 straight in June and August, and 10 in July.

They finish the season w/ 7 on the road via Seattle and LAA.

yay NL West interleague
They're always a nice little snack, aren't they? And fewer travel miles!

Nice to have homestands with the Halos and Yanks
in April, it'll get people out for cold weather games.

Hmm,
Three consecutive games at Coors field.  Maybe KenDoll finally gets his AL dong in '06!  Then again, maybe Barbie keeps Jason's 'junk' in her purse and KenDoll gets no soup...not even if Raggedy Ann is pitching.

Regarding the beginning of May...
Do they really have a two game series at LAA followed by another two game series vs the Indians? How does that work exactly? Pardon if it's an extremely stupid question, but I'm a relatively new baseball fan. It only really matters because at that time I'll still be in school, about a 15 minute drive from Angel Stadium, and a two game series seems like a possible typo or something.

Not a typo,
as sometimes there really are 2-game sets. But, sked as posted on the A's website is still tentative

That last homestand of the year
That looks like a doozy.  CWS, then CLE, then Im drawing a blank, I think its the Angels.  That could be huge.

Woohoo! @ NY in May
Have to buy tickets for that as soon as I can.

This schedule
seems easier than 05. September's tough--but not as bad as this year. And partly due to playing the NL west, the A's could stockpile wins earlier and be allowed to be average in September. Of course, they have to actually do that.

YES!!!!!
I was hoping the Padre series would be at Petco.  I have been wanting to check out that park...now I can check it out and see my A's.  Only about an hour down the 5.

I can't believe
it's only been two weeks since the last game. It feels like forever.

Oh yeah
Final three games of the reg. season in Anaheim; how sweet would it be to clinch the West on their turf after they've done it the last two years on our's?  Of course, I'm hoping we clinch a lot earlier, but boy would it be sweet celebrating in front of their bandwagon fans.  I'll be there for sure!

They should be coming to Cincinnati!!!

my take
i think this schedule is a whole lot easier than last years. We never really have a stretch where we play a bunch of teams in an environment where we've struggled (read: TEX, CLE, BOS 10-gamer). We dont have 12 straight vs. the east elite (NYY & BOS). I'm feeling pretty good even thought we have to finish on the road again.
