Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

A's vs. Angels

So, looking at the AL West standings in the sidebar here on AN, I noticed that the A's and Angels have the exact same number of runs allowed: 712.

The Angels have more runs scored (800) than the A's (779), so would this mean our pitching is equal, but their offense is slightly better?

Because if you think about it, we've won a lot of one-run games, and they've had a lot of blowouts...

And No One
would have thought either of those numbers would be so close. A's pitching underachieved this year; but so did the Angels offense.

Without looking up the numbers...
I'm guessing that the numbers are really close in part because the A's starting pitching has struggled down the stretch and the Angels bullpen is flat-out remarkable.

But I thought the same thing when entering those numbers last night.

Hmmm...
You don't enter them manually each night, do you?

Because, you know, thats madness.

Yes, I do...
There is no way to automatically update them that I know of...my dedication to AN is 100 percent :-)

I don't know how...
I don't know how to do it, but I know its possible to just rip the feed from another site.

I'm sure theres a commenter out there that can tell you how, or get Kos to do it :).

A friend of mine has done the same type of thing with odds and spreads for a prediction contest were going to be doing...he's just getting the feed from Wagerline.com or something.

But I guess your way keeps you close to the numbers--keeps you sharp.

In a way
I do like manually updating them.  Especially the Beane Counter every week or so. Because it gives me an automatic idea as to how each player is performing weekly.  You'd be surprised in some of the swings in their OBP in particular.
