Brian Cashman's Resume
The Yankees just gave Tony Womack 2 years and $4mil, and they gave Jaret Wright 3 years and $23 mil.
Read that again.
The only explanation I can come up with for these ridiculous contracts is that Brian Cashman has finally had it with Steinbrenner, and he's decided to MAKE King George fire him. I wonder if he'll even show up at the press-conferences, or is he going to be in the office sprucing up his resume?
Good news, though. These are both going to end up being bad moves for the Yankees. It's going to be a while before they win another World Series.

explanation
maybe the Yanks have decided that by giving out huge contracts to crappy players they can drive the price for GOOD players even higher, eliminating would-be contenders for top free agents. For example: If Wright is worth 7 mil a year, Pavano's gotta be worth a lot more. If enough of these contracts drive the price up even higher, the Yanks will be the only team left with enough cash to sign the real blue chippers....
