All right, I just saw a report on Channel 11 about how the city of San Jose is about to pass a resolution to submit a proposal to have MLB to remove the Giants territorial tag so the A's can move down to SJ.
They cited the whole Expos moving to DC thing as a preceedent and had a slick report of how the A's can benefit by moving to SJ.
We all know Mr Selig will just say "Thank You" to the San Jose people and just forget about the whole thing.
What made me laugh at the story was that the A's said that they were "committed" to staying in Oakland, even though we know Schott has been ogling San Jose like a horny teenager ogles every hot chick in his classes.
That's why they even had a Fremont Staduim plan. Still in Alameda County, but also in Silicon Valley.
You have the agree the Fremont idea would have been kinda intriguing: The FREMONT A'S? The CALIFORNIA A'S? Or thy do the whole NY Jets/Giants thing and still call it the Oakland A's even though they don't play in Oakland. And I swear I'm not biased because I'm from Fremont.
Is the city of Oakland too stupid to act? Do they know what kind of tax revenues they would lose if the A's skipped town? Are too hurt by the Raiders to do anything?
I thought that they wre building a baseball only facility at the Coliseum complex. I wish Oakland approved the Downtown ballpark, or true rival to SBC with a Jack London ballpark.
The Oakland Athletics, it has a ring that the San Jose Athletics just lacks.
