A lot of people have talked about the Schott being a cheapskate, but I'm curious to know how high of a budget would he have to give Beane before people would back off. Let's be realistic here. I don't think anyone should demand that Schott lose $20 million dollars a season just to field a team that we find acceptable. I think I read a while back that the A's had made money for the last few years, including 2004.
For the sake of arguement let's say that the A's rake in $70 million a season. The payroll's currently at $59 million. If Schott was willing to put out an $80 million roster would that be enough to appease his critics?
